Ka Lui: The Best Seafood Restaurant When in Puerto Prinsesa

Note: This blog entry was also cross-posted in When in Manila

When in Puerto Prinsesa,  KA LUI never fails to tickle one’s fancy.  Known as the most famous restaurant in Palawan, guests are treated to only the  freshest seafood and tropical ingredients. What makes dining even more enticing is the cozy, artsy, and “homey” vibe of the place. Warm and hospitable staff greets you at the door and politely asks you to remove your shoes. One need not worry because your pair are safely stored  in small lockers.

The native wooden house is gleaming with such beauty! Very well polished floors, random fruit decors, native pieces and alluring artworks greet you as you enter the restaurant.

I can stay here all evening and just marvel at how warm and comforting the eclectic ambiance is.  This is just the perfect foodie hang-out!

Choose to dine on regular tables and chairs or opt to sit on attractive pillows and short tables.

Shrimp Choice CatchPhp 195. A heaping serving of oh-so-fresh shrimps served with rice, veggies of the day and seaweeds

Blue Marlin Steak Choice Catch. Php 200. Perfectly grilled, flavor-infused Marlin in all its glory.  Served also with veggies and seaweeds.

Sinigang ni Kaka. Php220.  Such a quirky name for seafood in sinigang broth. No, its definitely NOT your usual sour sinigang, this one has an incredibly surprising coconut “buco” taste.

And of course, when in a tropical place one should opt for tropical coolers!  We had Calamansi-Ginger Blend Php55,  Mango and Watermelon Shake Php60 to perk us up! I can still vividly recall how the Calamansi & Ginger blend wonderfully satisfied my taste buds for something herbal-ish as it was drizzling that evening.

With the quality of the food,  prices mentioned above are already considered best value for your money! That’s why my friends and I were surprised when they still gave us a free treat after! How generous can they get?!

It was a complimentary dessert of  deliciously mixed fruit topped with muscovado sugar in a very uniquely pinoy coconut shell.

We were in for a  truly  impressive seafood feast!

Truly proud of Pinoy roots, the restaurant also has an in-house art exhibit. They also sell woven items from Rurungan sa Tubod Foundation, Inc.

When in Manila, don’t miss this chance to experience excellent food, great ambiance, exceptional service plus a conscious advocacy for proudly Pinoy artworks.

Ka Lui, I’m Hooked!  This is just the beginning, and I will surely be back for more!

It is highly recommended to reserve in advance as this place gets packed with both returning locals and curious tourists be it lunch or dinner time. You may ask your hotel front desk to call them.
