World Food Expo (WOFEX) 2013, SMX

Last July 31 to August 3, 2013 foodies were treated to a unique gastronomic experience at the World Food Expo 2013. The country's biggest and most anticipated food show was held simultaneously at these 2 venues: World Trade Center for WOFEX Trade and SMX Convention Center for WOFEX Marketplace.

Let me present to you my foodie finds at the WOFEX Marketplace. First stop, the freshest, finest and  unmatched tea from Dilmah. Ceylon ( now Sri Lanka ) with a well documented heritage in tea, stands out amongst the "Best in Class" tea producers. Particular emphasis is laid on the quality of the tea, hence superior leaf appearance and brightly colored aromatic liquors are its quentessential characteristics.

Here's some of the overwhelming selection: Tea Maker's Private Reserve, an eclectic collection of rare, fine teas; T-Series Luxury Teas ( P15/luxury tea bag ) tea from estates around the world that helps you relax, invigorate and enhance life; Natural Green Tea, a selection of natural green tea includes Jasmine Flowers, Moroccan Mint, Specialty Ceylon and Sencha; Fruit Tea ( P10/tea bag) garden fresh teas crafted with the harmony of flavours on the tongue.

Sunnywood: The Rice Expert brings us good quality rice from 3 brands, namely: Harvester's, Jordan Farms and Farmboy. Incorporated in 2009, it continuously strives to be a major, reliable and consistent supplier of quality rice to consumers.

Jordan Farm's Black Rice, is one of the best nutritious rice in the local market today. This little known variety is organic, whole grain and healthy. The amazing rice is a Superfood loaded with antioxidants that help prevent cancer, heart problems, diabetes and alzheimer's disease. Low in calories, it gives you a good serving of fiber, multivitamin B's, essential oil, minerals and iron.

Compared to brown, red and white rice, black rice has the highest amount of protein and two times the fiber of brown rice. Regular consumption of this rice plus a healthy lifestyle promotes overall mental and physical well-being. Check out www.blackrice.com

Fancy some Norwegian Salmon, Premium Hamachi, Salad Sushi Platters, Sashimi or Maki? Check-out Cold Storage Seafood for quality seafood at its best!

My friend Gene and I went crazy over the Bev WallGrab. Go. Healthy. Refreshing, All Natural, Organic Drinks from Equilibrium Intertrade Corp. It carries 5 premium brands, namely: Phoenix New Zealand Drinks, Charlie's Honest Fruit Smoothies and Quenchers, Arizona Ready to Drink Tea, Vignette Wine Soda and GUS ( Grown-up soda ) Price ranges from P50 to P80.

Also, there was an hourly food demonstration at the SMX Convention Center Taste Expo Stage.

The biggest international stellar cast of the F&B industry professionals judged, competed and networked in Wofex and Phil Culinary Cup ( PCC ) the country's only competition recognized by WACS ( World Association of Chef Societies )

Oh Apetina, how could I not love thee?!  Apetina Feta Black Olives and Herb & Spices instantly adds oomph to any salads, sandwiches and hearty dishes.

They have a special selling price at the Wofex2013. That's the same great taste minus the hefty price tag.

I was particularly drawn to the impressive  Breville Booth. They have lined up amazing chefs to whip up great recipes using the Australia-based iconic worldwide brand juicer, mixer, espresso machine, coffee maker, rice cooker and smart oven.

Some of the Breville Ambassadors included Raw Food Chef Margo Lao, with her "Look Young, Feel Young" Juicing Workshop and Chef Joey Prats for "Orgasmic Delights: French Macaron and Red Velvet" Making Workshop.

The highlight of my trip to the WOFEX?! The no. 1 selling juicer, The Breville Juice Fountain Max. Will be blogging a separate post for this kitchen genius.

Here are my haul from the Wofex2013

And yes, my very own Breville Juicer!
